Thanks
for visiting The Berry Patch website. We are the home of The World's
Largest Strawberry located on Highway 220 between Rockingham and Ellerbe,
North Carolina. The Berry Patch is a great place for family, friends
and travelers to take a pit stop for our homemade ice cream, fresh produce,
a relaxing seat in one of our many resting areas and clean restrooms.
We are able to accommodate RV's, tractor-trailers, tour buses and best of
all we are animal friendly ~ offering a large pet rest area for our four
legged friends!
The
Berry Patch began as a small strawberry farm in 1995 ran by owner, Lee
Berry. In 1998, Lee married Amy and they now have three children.
2002 was the landmark year for The Berry Patch, in which it was constructed.
Lee's wife came up the idea to build the ice cream shop in the shape of a
strawberry since they were strawberry farmers and of course having the last
name "Berry".
We
are open seasonally from April1-mid November. Our specialty is the
best homemade ice cream around, using only farm fresh fruit combined with
the highest milk fat available to make for an extremely creamy product with
actual slices (no bits) of fruit or candy in your ice cream. No
artificial flavoring is allowed! We use the old fashion way of
producing ice cream. Made with our Amish wooden double churns with
rock salt and all! We offer 19 homemade flavors ranging from your
traditional flavors to orange pineapple, vanilla fudge ripple, peanut
butter, banana, pistachio, butter pecan and the hits of summertime - peach &
strawberry.
Our
homegrown strawberries are available mid April-June 1. We also carry
seasonal farm fresh produce, ciders, local honey, Vidalia Onion products,
and Granny Berry's Homemade Jams & Pickles. Granny Berry is Lee's
mother who hand makes and packs her products in her very own production
kitchen.
